ARTIST'S STATEMENT

IMG_6825 2.jpg

Much like my other passion jazz music, abstract visual art is an ideal medium for communicating ideas and feelings not easily expressed in words or figurative forms. My paintings explore life in motion and organic patterns as well as geographical and astronomical formations. I start the process with freely flowing pigments and manipulate the work using tilts, rotations, and a palette knife. The objective is to find the right moment to freeze the motion and reach an aesthetically pleasing composition that reflects the tension between chaos and order in nature.

Inspiration for my work can come from a serene day spent hiking near the Pacific Coast, a fascinating piece of speculative fiction, a tempestuous musical composition, or photographs taken during a trip to Galapagos.
